Carolina Hurricanes Pittsburgh Sport reviews
Red wings vs hurricanes
The game was great. The only problem we had was when the women behind us told my wife to sit down. She was standing in excitement when the redwings were about to score again. She stood a few times for a few seconds each time. He one threatened her. Security was the. Called and we were moved straight across. We started on row n and ended up on row c. What an improvement. We were also surrounded by redwings fans in our new seats. There was also a law officer there beside our section. During the third period he said you two are pretty chill I don't understand whet he problem was. The event staff was great and got us away from the crazy peoe so we could enjoy the game. Thank you Matt. You handled the situation percecly
Our Own Canes Story
Our family has never been much into sports. We relocated to North Carolina from just outside of Boston and never really cared for the "culture" of New England sports. With the exception of an occasional Red Sox game sports was just not a thing. Early this season one of my wife's past High School students sang the National Anthem at a Canes game and she felt obligated to go and cheer her on. I tagged along with our 9 year old daughter. The experience was unforgettable. Everything from the PNC Arena itself to all the fanfare and attention given to those in attendance was amazing. The thrill of the game and the intensity of the "show" surrounding it instantly converted us to die hard fans. We have been to countless games since. It took us some time to convince our 12 year old son to join us since he suffers from Sensory Processing Disorder and severe anxiety associated with it. We took advantage of the package offered by PNC Arena as part of their advertising as a "Sensory Processing Inclusive" venue and he loved it. He attended his second game with us last weekend and he feels comfortable enough with the experience to try out some lower level seats (he would only sit up in the balcony). Our 20 year-old daughter who "refused" to attend a sporting event (especially Hockey) for the same reasons we shy'd away for so many years finally agreed to attend a game with us this past weekend to cheer on our 9 year old who attended the Jr. Storm Squad cheer program and got the opportunity to cheer with the storm squad at the game. The result... looks like all five of us will be attending some games together. To the Hurricanes... pulling our family in was quite a feat. I would recommend this experience to anyone looking for a day out at a reasonable price (compared to attending these events in many other cities). Go Canes!
Great Time on the Ice
I love hockey. I never actually was able to go to a NHL game though until now. I loved the game itself, purchasing the tickets was an easy process, parking was no issue at all, and the view from all seating areas seemed to be great! Now heres the few things I had issues with: people decided to take seats by scooting down from there into ours (we were in the middle of the front row on the top tier). Getting them to give us our seats was a nightmare and an argument that I was over and didn't care to have ruin my experience so we just took two seats at the end of our row. Which brings me to my biggest complaint. THE SEATS ARE SO TINY. You are basically sitting right on top of your neighbor. I'm not sure if this is just because I was on the top tier (which i do understand i pay less so the conditions aren't going to be ideal) but that was just ridiculous. My boyfriend and I are both pretty average sized, fit. And even then, the seats were super crowding.
Be careful what seat you pick
If you’re an average size human being do not buy a seat on the corners of the bowl. When I got to my seat in 337 I couldn’t squeeze between the cup holders in the seat. It was narrower than the rally towels. When I went to customer service they told me it was sold out and I could watch the tv’s at the bar. I was in tears having just been able to score tickets for my daughter and myself. They did move us after the game started but it was embarrassing and I ended up missing almost all the first period. Something should be noted when you buy those seats.
The Arena needs work
The game was a typical NHL game.
The venue needs work. First getting there off the highway was a traffic disaster that could have been avoided if there was 1 officer directing traffic around a dedicated right turn instead of cars stopping and waiting unnecessarily at a red light. The officer was there, he just wasn’t directing the hundreds of cars using that exit. Traffic was backed up for nearly an hour.
The Venue, while clean, lacks an adequate number of washrooms for a facility of that size. The washrooms it does have also have sinks that are set 3” too far back on the counter, so you have to lean way over…a nuisance for an adult, tough for a kid to reach. There needs to be more permanent food concessions offering a broader menu. There are only a few choices and they repeat. The portable kiosks are boring. I did like the variety of pretzels on the pretzel carts. It’s disappointing that an NHL building doesn’t have fountain soda and a souvenir cup. The bottled product goes warm after 20 minutes and is undesirable.
I’ve been to 8 NHL Arenas, 1 has since closed and although it was old and tired, it had a better food selection than PNC Arena.it’s time to kick it up a notch, time for a reno. I have no desire to go back until that happens.
